Revised for 2002, NFPA
1451 specifies the
minimum requirements for
a fire service vehicle
operations training
program (except for
aircraft and watercraft),
including safety
procedures for those
members who drive or
occupy fire service
vehicles.
This expanded edition places new emphasis on
safety considerations in all areas, and includes:
- New coverage of private industrial and contract fire
departments
- New coverage of industrial fire brigades that
respond off-site
- Replacement of the term accident with the term
crash, to remove any connotation that the common
causes of a crash are typically unforeseen or
unexpected
This Standard also guides the development of a written
training program including the organizational procedures
for training, vehicle maintenance, and identifying
equipment deficiencies.
